Title: Under the Scepter of Nestor the new Mycenaean capital at Iklaina
Speaker: Dr Michael Cosmopoulos
This lecture will present the exciting discoveries at Iklaina, one of the capitals of the legendary King Nestor, who figures prominently in Homer's Iliad. The excavation has unearthed an early Mycenaean center of power and brought to light unexpected new evidence that challenges current knowledge about the origins of states, bureaucracy, and literacy in Bronze Age Greece.
