Join us as we celebrate National Archaeology Month with a lecture by Wyoming State Archaeologist, Mark Miller.
In this talk, Miller draws from his recently completed book entitled “Military Sites in Wyoming 1700-1920.” The slide show and lecture summarizes a study of over 300 sites that have been incorporated into this historic context, beginning with early evidence of military activity in Native American rock art, and culminating in a discussion of sites related to Wyoming’s role in the United States’ entry into World War I.
Dr. Mark Miller, a Carbon County native, currently serves as the Wyoming State Archaeologist and is an adjunct professor of anthropology at the University of Wyoming.
Wyoming just finished celebrating Archaeology Awareness Month in September. For over two decades, Wyoming has produced award winning posters, Governor’s proclamations, and various archaeological outreach programs statewide.
