The Annual Symposium of the Trans-Vaal branch of ArchSoc is designed to bring academics and society members together once a year for a full day of fascinating lectures. The theme aims to highlight the importance of archaeology in the southern hemisphere. Recently, our country’s archaeologists and historians have provided world firsts in diverse archaeological fields such as maritime archaeology, rock art dating, urban archaeology, paleoenvironments, ceramic and lithic studies. The speakers this year will discuss how their work in the south influences and impacts practice, theory and method internationally. This topic was chosen to educate and entertain students of archaeology as well as amateur archaeologists.
