The Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex, operated by the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, is pleased to host the 21st Annual Archaeology Day on Saturday, 5 October 2013 from 10 am -4 pm.  This is a FREE event.

This promises to be a day of fun and discovery for the entire family.  There will be hands-on activities, special exhibits, stone tool manufacture, pottery making, and spear throwing using the atlatl.  Kids can compete for prizes with a museum search activity using exhibits within the Delf Norona Museum. Curators with the West Virginia Archaeological Research and Collections Management Facility will provide guided behind-the-scene tours.  Displays and activities will be available regarding learning about plant seeds recovered from archaeological sites. Visitors can also tour the seven acre grounds featuring the Grave Creek Mound, which is one of the largest Adena Cultural burial mounds built between 250-100 B.C., and view the interpretive garden.

The 21st Annual Archaeology Weekend at the Grave Creek Mound is a part of West Virginia Archaeology Month which is held during October.
