Two-day symposium focusing on issues of looting in Iraq. Include a keynote conversation with Matthew Bogdanos and McGuire Gibson.

While the human toll is the greatest consequence of war, this symposium looks at the other casualities of conflict; the damage and looting of archaeological sites and museums.

Based on thoughtful debate and discussion, this symposium will look at recent history in Iraq, Syria, and other parts of what was ancient Mesopotamia, and try to understand what has happened and how we can protect the archaeological record in the future.

Speakers will include world experts, archaeologists, historians, and professors.

Dr. Clemens Reichel, Associate Curator of Ancient Cultures at the Royal Ontario Museum and curator of Mesopotamia: Inventing Our World will be the moderator of the symposium.
