Historic London Town and Gardens and Anne Arundel County’s Lost Towns Project invites people of all ages to join us as we celebrate International Archaeology Day on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm.  Hands-on activities for kids and adults will be ongoing. Or you can stop by the Archaeology Lab to get your hands dirty washing real artifacts found in the County. Special events include a lecture by archaeologist Stephanie Sperling at 11:00 am entitled, “A Year of Archaeology in Anne Arundel County.”   Stephanie will talk about recent excavations at the colonial port of London Town, at a 19th century African-American house in Galesville, and at the exciting Pig Point site, a multi-component Native American base camp.  At 1:00 pm Historic London Town and Gardens educators will team up with the Lost Town’s Project archaeologists for an entertaining and enlightening tour of 20 years of excavations at London Town.
