The Search for Lunenburg's First Defences
Sponsored by Department of Anthropology, Saint Mary's University
Saturday, October 19, 2013 - 10:00am to 4:30pm

Location:

Canada

Weather permitting we will be carrying out a geophysical and landscape survey on Gallows Hill, a site in Old Town Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today this property is the site of the Lunenburg Academy National Historic Site, but it is also thought to be where Lunenburg's Foreign Protestant settlers built blockhouses and fortifications in 1753. We will invite members of the Lunenburg Heritage Society, Lunenburg Academy Foundation, and general public to visit while we conduct the field work and will tweet the progress of our work throughout the day.
