The 2014 Plano Archeology Fair will be held on October 18th, 2014 at Bob Woodruff Park in Plano, Texas. The event is sponsored by The Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, Inc. and GeoMarine, Inc.

“This free event is always great fun for all involved.  Children, parents, grandparents, volunteers and educators enjoy a day full of unique learning opportunities,” said Plano Conservancy Co-Director Jeff Campbell. “This event is a wonderful learning experience and features fun for the whole family.”

The fair features a variety of activities and exhibits including rock painting, corn husk doll creation, face painting, a petroglyph site, a pictograph wall and more. Many children also participate in the hands-on excavation “archaeology dig”.  Almost 600 people attend the event throughout the day. The visitors are hosted by over 100 local volunteers.

“Our guests have the opportunity to participate in hands-on excavation, enjoy the Native American Bearclaw singers and dancers, see a variety of exhibits and demonstrations and much more,” Plano Conservancy Co-Director Russ Kissick added.
