Archaeology Collections Technician
Responsible for the care and maintenance of the collections and associated records. Assists in providing access to the collections. Assists with the processing of artifact/specimen transactions to ensure that additions to and deletions from the collections are in accordance with Museum and department policies and procedures. Assists in identifying and recording collections according to departmental and disciplinary standards to enhance access and retrieval of materials for study and exhibition. Assists in the maintenance of storage systems, including monitoring and controlling environmental conditions and secures the collections to ensure the physical welfare of the collections and associated records.
Maintains retrieval systems to enhance access to and use of collections and associated records. Assists staff and public in the use of the collections, facilitating control and providing accurate and appropriate information. Interacts with staff and public with professionalism, tact, courtesy, and respect at all time.
Assists with tours and explanations to public groups to demonstrate the collections and to inform the public of Museum resources. Interacts with museum and extramural professionals to enhance professional development and ability to care for collections.
May participate in professional organizations relating to collections management/discipline to enhance professional development. Interacts with staff and museum clients with tact, courtesy and respect. Projects a positive and professional attitude.
Cooperates and supports teamwork; maintains and strengthens customer relations. Works in a safe manner at all times, complying with the Museum safety policies and procedures. Performs other duties, as assigned, to accomplish the goals of the Museum.
