National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)
The Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) of the Arab Republic
of Egypt is seeking one specialist in Islamic Art and Architecture
and one specialist in the colonial/modern periods (18th and 19th
centuries) of Egypt to assist with the writing of exhibition text for
the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, a new museum
scheduled to open in Cairo in 2012. The successful candidates
will work under the supervision of a Senior Egyptologist, at the
direction of the Secretary General of the SCA, Dr. Zahi Hawass,
and will be based in the Secretariat in Zamalek.
- An M.A. in Islamic Art and Architecture or Middle East Studies
with an emphasis on Modern Egyptian History
- Excellent written English is essential, with experience in writing in
English for the general public
- A good command of Arabic is necessary
Salaries commensurate with experience.
