AIA Lecturer: Elise Friedland

Dr. Elise Friedland is Assistant Professor of Classics in the Department of Classical and Semitic Languages and Literature, George Washington University. She was formerly at Rollins College in Florida. A Classicist, she received both her Ph.D. and M.A. in Classical Art and Archaeology from the University of Michigan. Before becoming a professor, she put her interest in museum studies to good use when she worked as a curator at museums in the United States and Israel. She specializes in Roman sculpture and the Roman Near East, and has done fieldwork in Jordan and Israel.
