Robert Lindley Vann

Lindley Vann is Professor of Architecture in the School of Architecture, University of Maryland.  He holds his degrees from the University of Texas and Cornell University (Ph.D.), and his areas of specialization are Greek and Roman Architecture, ancient harbors, Pompeii, and ancient construction.  He has conducted fieldwork at Turkey (Sardis), Tunisia (Carthage), Israel (Caesarea), Jordan (Humayma), and Sri Lanka (Sigiriya), and is presently working on the Survey of Ancient Harbors in Turkey, and in Stabiae and Pompeii.  His main publications include “The Unexcavated Buildings of Sardis” (BAR, Oxford), and “Caesarea Papers” (supplement of the Journal of Roman Archaeology).
