National Archaeology Day with Michigan's State Archaeologist

National Archaeology Day came early to the residents of Michigan. On October 6, State Archaeologist Dr. Dean Anderson hosted Michigan Archaeology Day at the Michigan Historical Center. Over 650 people attended the one-day celebration where they were able to participate in a variety of events. The archaeology fair included fun hands-on activities, as well as experimental archaeology demonstrations of flintknapping and atlatl throwing. There were also educational lectures, student presentations, and special museum tours and exhibits available for visitors.
The Bayon Information Center in Siem Reap, Cambodia has joined as a new Collaborating Organization for International Archaeology Day 2013.
The Legacy: Hands on the Past, Center for Archaeological Research at The University of Texas at San Antonio and Frank H. McClung Museum at the University of Tennessee Knoxville have returned for International Archaeology Day 2013.
This week, the AIA has paired with two new organizations to promote International Archaeology Day 2013.
