"Tombstones & Trowels" brought interactive history to the Haverhill area

The Haverhill Historical Society hosted an Archaeology Open House in honor of National Archaeology Day and Massachusetts Archaeology Month. The "Tombstones & Trowels" event included tours of the museum's archaeology exhibit, a scavenger hunt in a 17^th century burial ground, refreshments, and a hall with different activity stations.  In the hall, visitors were able to cross-mend redware potsherds, view "tools of the trade," make paper tombstones, excavate a mock dig, and clean artifacts.
