Tennessee Valley Archaeology Research, the Oakville Indian Mounds Museum, Huntsville City Schools Earthscope, the Alabama National Guard, and Redstone Aresnal will all be working with the AIA North Alabama Society to present an archaeology fair featuring flint knapping demonstrations, atlatl instruction, Native American games, and an artifact donation table for the return of artifacts which have been collected from public lands.
The Department of Anthropology at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania has also signed on as a Collaborating Organization and will be hosting an open house of the IUP archaeology labs where visitors can view demonstrations of 3-D site modeling and geophysical equipment as well as artifact displays and poster exhibits about recent archaeological projects.
More Collaborating Organizations have joined us for International Archaeology Day 2014!
We are so excited to be celebrating International Archaeology Day again this year on October 18, 2014 to raise awareness for archaeology and provide opportunities for the public to participate in archaeological activities.
In preparation for IAD 2014, we just set up a new webpage with precomposed e-mail invitations that you can easily send to your contacts.
