National Archaeology Day in Huntsville, Alabama
October 27, 2011
The Secretary of the AIA-Northern Alabama Society, Cathie Dunar, teaches high school Latin so she timed their big annual Junior Classical League chapter celebration to be the last school day before National Archaeology Day. Each class prepared Roman dishes and talked about Roman culture. AIA-Northern Alabama Society President, Dr. Lillian Joyce, came to visit for two class periods during the event.
In addition, Lillian Joyce and her husband Stephen Waring used their personal annual donation to the local Huntsville public radio station to have them read an on air message about National Archaeology Day all day long!
Volunteers are needed to monitor the translations of the International Archaeology Day webpage.
After two years of great success, National Archaeology Day will change to International Archaeology Day for 2013.
The Friends of the Office of State Archaeology in Connecticut acted as a participating partner in National Archaeology Day by sponsoring an Archaeology Fair.
