Texas Archeological Society to Celebrate National Archaeology Day
August 14, 2012
The Texas Archeological Society (TAS) will co-collaborate with the Bell County Museum in Belton, Texas for their National Archaeology Day festivities this October. In addition, TAS will host their Annual Meeting October 26-28 at the University of Texas at Tyler. The meeting will feature paper presentations, discussions, poster sessions, and artifact identification. Featured speakers will be Dr. Kent Reilly who will speak on cosmology and symbolism of southeastern Indian groups Friday night and Dr. Tim Pauketat who will speak on Cahokia and the Mississippian period at the banquet Saturday night. TAS members and the public are invited to attend.
Volunteers are needed to monitor the translations of the International Archaeology Day webpage.
After two years of great success, National Archaeology Day will change to International Archaeology Day for 2013.
The Friends of the Office of State Archaeology in Connecticut acted as a participating partner in National Archaeology Day by sponsoring an Archaeology Fair.
