2011 AIA and APA Joint Annual Meeting - San Antonio, Texas

The Alamo

With the completion of another successful meeting, it is time to get your boots on as the 112th Annual Meeting heads to the Lone Star State. We are returning to our regular Friday through Sunday format with Academic Sessions starting on Friday, January 6th and ending on Sunday, January 9th. The Opening Night Reception will be held on the evening of January 5th. The Program for the Annual Meeting Committee looks forward to expanding the Academic Program and welcomes your abstract submissions for the 2011 meeting. See the AM 2011 Call for Papers for details and deadlines.

The Alamo

We invite professionals, students, enthusiasts, and Archaeology Magazine subscribers to join us in San Antonio, from January 6th – 9th, 2011. The program will feature academic sessions that present the latest research from the field, workshops that discuss and present new technologies, and special events that focus on archaeology both locally and globally. After sessions, enjoy the best that San Antonio has to offer. The city is home to the Alamo, stunning Spanish missions, museums, the Tower of the Americas, SeaWorld San Antonio, Fiesta Texas and the San Antonio Zoo. In addition, the Annual Meeting hotels, the Marriott Riverwalk and Rivercenter, are ideally located along the famous European-style San Antonio River Walk.

After evening receptions and special events hosted at the hotel, attendees can spend their nights two-stepping with the locals or reconnecting with colleagues, all the while enjoying the many restaurants, galleries, shops, outdoor art and relaxing outdoor patios nestled along the river’s lush landscapes and quiet pools. Revel in the sounds of Latin, Jazz, Country, and Southern Blues that billow from dancehalls and quaint little cocktail bars throughout the city. Set your taste-buds ablaze with Tex-Mex cuisine; whatever your fancy, there will be a restaurant to meet your price and your palate. Get a feel for the Old West by extending your stay and exploring the Texas Hill Country or spending a few nights at a working cattle ranch. Whatever you're looking for, Texas always does its best to oblige. We hope to see you in San Antonio!
