knossos vs. Herculaneum

Found on the island of Crete, Knossos is one of Europe’s oldest cities. Within the city is the regal palace that served as the ceremonial and political center of the Minoan culture. The palace is beautifully adorned with indoor and outdoor murals and decorative motifs. We know it has stood the test of time, but will Knossos unleash the mighty minotaur to destroy its competition in ArchaeoMadness?

As an archaeological site that represents a precise moment in time, Herculaneum gives us a rare glimpse of ancient life and society in the Roman world. The wealth of information modern archaeologists have gained from the site came at a heavy price for the city's citizens, as the town was buried in pyroclastic flows when Mount Vesuvius erupted in in 79 AD. Hopefully Herculaneum will have a better fate today and won't get “buried” by the competition in ArchaeoMadness.
