Archaeology Day at the BLM Campbell Creek Science Center

October 19, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm AKDT

BLM Campbell Creek Science Center
5600 Science Center Drive
Anchorage, AK 99507 United States

Join the Bureau of Land Management and its partners to celebrate International Archaeology Day at the Campbell Creek Science Center! Learn all about archaeology with a variety of indoor and outdoor activity stations for kids and adults: learn to hunt using an atlatl and spear, try your hand at prehistoric cave painting techniques, learn how to identify animals from their bones, listen to talks around the fire pit about the Dena’ina way of life, and more! Interpretive walks highlighting the World War Two features on Campbell Tract will start at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm in front of the Science Center. Please dress for the weather – outside activities will happen, rain (or snow!) or shine.

The BLM would like to say thank you to all the partners who are making this possible: National Park Service, State of Alaska Office of History and Archaeology, Alaska Anthropological Association, Alaska Consortium of Zooarchaeologists, Anchorage Museum, and the UAA Department of Anthropology.

When placing events on your calendar using these buttons, please check that time zone displays correctly.
