Archaeology Fair and Talk

The North Alabama Society, along with other partners, including the Alabama Archaeological Society, will sponsor an Archaeolology Fair on Saturday, October 20th from 1:00-4:00 PM at Lowe Mill Dock and Lawn. 

Other participants include: TVA, Redstone Arsenal Cultural Resources Program, Little River Canyon National Park, Univeristy of Alabama Office of Archaeological Research, Tennessee Valley Archaeological Research, Alexander Archaeological Consultants, Project Archaeology, Earthscope, Oakville Indian Mounds Museum, Wolf Gap Education Outreach, Tammy Beane, Flintknappers.com, Mothering Herbs.

The same evening at 7:00, Dr. Jan Simek of the University of Tennessee will give a talk, “The Sky Above, The Mud Below: Pre-contact Cave art & Rock Art in the North American Southeast” in Wilson Hall Theatre on the UAH Campus.

On Monday, October 22, festivities continue with Dr. Eric Cline of George Washingto University giving two talks on the Bronze Age: “1177 BC: The Year Civilization Collapsed” at 2:40 PM in Wilson Hall 168 and “Excavating Armageddon: New Discoveries and Old Debates at Megiddo” at 7:30 PM in Wilson Hall Theatre.
