Blacksmithing Fundamentals for the Historical Archaeologist

This one-day class will introduce historic blacksmithing processes, materials, tools, and products. The goal is to enhance your ability to analyze typical artifacts recovered from historic sites. We will do this by demonstrating the processes involved in forging various items. Artifacts, both authentic and reproduced will be available for viewing and discussion. Class will meet from 9:00 to 4:00 with a lunch break.
