Botany as Applied to Art

October 5, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

Landmark Inn State Historic Site
402 E. Florence St.
Castroville, TX 78009 United States

Visitors will make art with natural materials based on The American Girls’ Handy Book. The book encourages us to “not look far for suggestion” for our art. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote a book of poems “The Seaside and the Fireside” in 1850. The handy book quotes the poem Gaspar Becerra from that book: “O thou sculptor, painter, poet!/ Take this lesson to thy heart:/ That is best which lieth nearest;/ Shape from that thy work of art.” Come try your hand at this mid-nineteenth-century craft with supplies found only at Landmark Inn.
