Family Archaeology Day – Trail of Tears in Southeast Missouri

Noon- 2:00pm – Adults are invited to view the Trail of Tears exhibit plus digital and paper maps and documents. Researcher Eva Dunn will be on hand to answer questions. 

Children will enjoy  making cornhusk dolls, creating small pottery bowls, leather lacing crafts and playing “dart” games in the Discovery Lab.

2:00pm-4:00pm – Eva Dunn, Trail of Tears researcher, will present updated findings of new discoveries of Trail of Tears routes in Bollinger County. Join in the discussion and view documents, maps, witness structues, and digital resources that show a new view of how the detachments traveled from the Mississippi River through Bollinger County. A surprise historical finding will be revealed during this presentation.

Hands on children’s’ activities, puzzles, games, and crafts appropriate to the archaeology theme will be ongoing throughout the afternoon.

All activities and presentations are free with your paid museum admission.

Museum admission: Adults $5 each and 17 years and under $2 each

The Museum will be open from 12pm-4:30pm
