Hands On History – Cemetery Preservation Project

April 21, 2018

Olivewood Cemetery
1300 Court St
Houston, TX 77007 United States

AIA Society: Houston

Cemeteries hold our histories and tell many stories about our lives.  Too many of Harris County’s historic cemeteries are in desperate need of preservation.  In response, AIA-Houston is launching a collaborative public archaeology and public history project in memory of Howard Pieper, who wished to celebrate Houston’s history and ensure that it not be forgotten.  The historic African-American Olivewood Cemetery is the site of our first year of events.

This is YOUR chance to help make Houston a better place!  We invite you to join us in us in this vital work so that our Houston pasts will be preserved.  We provide the training; you provide the hands that help reveal and preserve history.
