Native American Lifeways during the Early Archaic Period: A View from Northampton

October 13, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm EDT

Historic Northampton Museum
46 Bridge Street
Northampton, MA 01060 United States

Recent archaeological investigations related to roadway improvements in Northampton have revealed an Early Archaic Period (approximately 9,500 to 8,000 years ago) Native American site. This period is marked by rapid climate change, as the post-glacial Arctic environment became warmer. Continuing excavations this summer will hopefully reveal more information about this site. Please join for a discussion, led by archaeologist David Leslie, about what this site reveals about Native American lifeways during the Early Archaic period of the Northampton region.
