Sloan Site Talk

October 18, 2018 @ 6:00 pm EDT

ASU Museum
320 University Loop
Jonesboro, AR 72467 United States

Room 156, The Sloan Site is a 12,000 year old cemetery that was professionally excavated in 1974 by the Arkansas Archeological Survey. People who made Dalton style chipped stone spear point, knives, and woodworking tools were also the earliest mobile foragers in North America to make dugout canoes and use the rivers as direct transportation corridors. This presentation covers what we’ve learned about these people, their lifestyle, and the cemetery itself. The presentation is free and open to the public. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
