Summer Days Port Hudson 1863

At 2:00 PM a park staff member will discuss Port Hudson’s Civil War period during the seven week seige during the summer of 1863.  Talks will include past and present archaeology projects that were conducted thoughout the battlefield.  Artifacts displayed include items recovered at the Rist home site and the Native Guard battlefield where two regiments of Black soldiers fought for their lives and the destruction of American slavery.
