1:30-4:30pm
Lord Nelson Hotel, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Registration fee: $25

How big is an artifact? Archaeological materials can significantly alter the electromagnetic properties of the soil at the molecular level. Drawing on nearly 20 years of experiments with the Geonics EM38 series of instruments in three countries, this workshop provides an overview of the science, a summary of best practices for undertaking geophysical survey, and a chance to gather real data in the field.

Dr. Jonathan Fowler teaches in the Anthropology Department at Saint Mary’s University and has been employing geophysical methods in archaeology for 20 years. Duncan McNeill, Owner/President of Geonics Ltd. (retired), is professional geophysicist and entrepreneur and is a leading expert in the field of archaeological geophysics.
