“CITIES IN THE SAND: Urban Life in Ancient Egypt”
38th Annual Symposium of the Society for the Study of Egyptian Antiquities

Friends of Ancient Egypt, Royal Ontario Museum
Our Symposium topic for 2012 is “Cities in the Sand”, an examination of life in the towns and settlements along the ancient Nile. This year we will be partnering with the Royal Ontario Museum’s Friends of Ancient Egypt to present an exciting lineup of international speakers who will talk about recent discoveries about ancient urban life. As of October 15th, scheduled speakers include Kathryn Bard (BU), Nigel Strudwick (U Memphis), Sally Katary (Laurentian U) and Krzysztof Grzymski (ROM) , Miriam Muller (U Vienna) and Nicholas Picardo (Harvard).

2012 SSEA/SEEA SCHOLARS’ COLLOQUIUM
This year’s Scholars’ Colloquium will take place in The Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queens Park Cres. , Toronto on November 30th and December 2nd, 2012. Friday, November 30th (Day 1) will take place from 9am to 5pm. December 2nd (Day 2) will be devoted to Papers Dedicated to Dr. J.S. Holladay, Jr. and will take place from 1pm to 5pm in the Eaton Theatre of the Royal Ontario Museum. Entry via the Group (South) Entrance on Queens' Park. Attendance at the Scholars' Colloquium events is free and open to all. However, museum admission must be paid to access the galleries.
