Laura Gagne explores what Middle Bronze Age handmade pottery reveals about its Cypriot makers and identifies how and when learning the skills of the potter and ceramic decorator begin. Using mostly White Painted Ware as evidence, Dr. Gagne identifies six levels of directive participation by experienced potters whose trainees range in age from young children to adults. The lecture explores new ground in the field of ancient ceramics.
