North Adams has always claimed a connection to the great Battle of the Ironclads at Hampton Roads in Virginia during the American Civil War.  This is due to the fact that a furnace works in the city created the pig iron for the USS Monitor.  On the 150th anniversary of the Civil War we will investigate the story of the ironclad, the battle and the archaeology involved in the recovery of the sunken ship.
