SUMMARY:Halloween Pottery at Poverty Point World Heritage Site
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 29th\, 10am-1pm\n$ = $4 park admission fee\, visitors 3 and under and 62 and older admitted free.\nFamily friendly \nVisitors to Poverty Point World Heritage Site are invited to take part in a ranger-led pottery demo Saturday\, October 29th. During this guided experience\, visitors will learn about the pottery created and used by Native Americans at Poverty Point 3\,500 years ago. The program begins with the demo at 10 a.m.; afterward\, visitors are free to create their own pottery until the program ends at 1 p.m. This program uses air-dry clay\, and visitors are welcome to take one of their finished pottery pieces home. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing for a potentially messy program. \nCandy will be provided by the Louisiana Office of State Parks for this Halloween program\, so visitors are encouraged to bring a trick or treat bag! \nPoverty Point World Heritage Site offers visitors the unique opportunity to experience and learn about the earthworks and those individuals who raised them from the ground between the years of 1700 and 1100 BCE. The $4 admission fee provides access to the museum\, film theatre\, hiking trail\, driving tour\, seasonal tram tour\, and any interpretive events taking place at the site. Children (3 and under) and senior citizens (62 and over) are admitted free of charge. \nPoverty Point is located at 6859 HWY 577\, Pioneer LA 71266.
