A public presentation by Dr. Matthew Sears member of the Department of Classics and Ancient History and the GREGG Centre.

The storied battlefields of Greece -- from the plains of Marathon to the pass at Thermopylae -- have drawn visitors since antiquity.  Although many have combined these landscapes for clues to shed light on ancient events, in too many cases we are still left with more questions than answers concerning how, or even where, many battles were fought.  Now, however, new technology, including satellite imagery and geographic information systems (GIS), promises to unlock the secrets of the Greek countryside like never before.
