At 2pm in the DeNault Auditorium in Grimm Hall at Concordia University, Kevin Smith, a former student of Dr. Rene Vellanoweth of CSULA will lecture on some unique Southern California stone tools. Professor Vellanoweth spoke to us May 15, 2016 on his work in the Channel Islands.  As a footnote to his discussion, Professor Vellanoweth described the mysterious crescent shaped stone objects found on the Channel Islands, on mainland California and around the West. Mr. Smith, a PhD candidate at UC Davis, will describe how he used experimental archaeology to explore the crafting and use of these tools.
