The date of this year’s event is Thursday, November 2nd to Sunday,November 5th.
As usual, the weekend schedule will run as follows:
Thursday, November 2nd – a free lecture; this year the lecture is by Dr. Nancy Lovell
Friday , November 3rd 9am to 4pm – Scholars’ Colloquium, Day 1
Friday, November 3rd 5:30pm to approximately 9pm – Annual General Meeting of the Society
Saturday, November 4th 9am to 5pm – Symposium on Roman Egypt (AEGYPTUS: EGYPT UNDER ROMAN RULE).
Sunday, November 5th 11am to 4pm – Scholars’ Colloquium, Day 2
At this point in time, we are unable to say whether the Poster Session presentations will take place on Sunday morning before noon, or on Friday.
The "Scholars Colloquium" and Poster Sessions are intended for the presentation of 20-minutes scholarly papers on any aspect of language, literature, art, religion, iconography, history and archaeology of pre-Islamic Egypt and Sudan will be considered, including interconnections with the ancient Near East, ancient Africa and the Graeco-Roman world.
The Symposium is a day-long event with longer papers by invited speakers dealing with aspects of a single topic. This year the topic is "Egypt under Roman Rule", from the death of Cleopatra VII roughly until the early reign of Diocletian.
The deadline for paper submissions for the Scholars Colloquium is August 31st for paper abstracts, and September 30th for poster proposals.
Acceptances will be issued before these dates. Those who need to know acceptance by a specific date should contact the Committee.at firstname.lastname@example.org
* All Scholars’ Colloquium participants will have to also be registered for the Symposium before October 15th, 2017. (This does not apply to Poster Session presenters not present in person).
