“‘X’ never, ever marks the spot.” – Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
The San Bernardino County Museum is thrilled to be hosting International Archaeology Day! Archaeology Day is the concluding event for our Earth Science Week celebrations.
Archaeological discoveries and interpretation lie within a geological context. Archaeologists use a variety of geological techniques to determine an artifact’s age, as well as to uncover the dynamics of a past landscape. These tools allow archaeologists to place their finds into a more comprehensive context, and give a deeper interpretation of the past.
While X may have marked the spot for Indiana Jones, reality is never that simple. We want to bring these amazing analytical and interpretive techniques to life for our community. To achieve this goal we are reaching out to professionals and organizations to help us fulfill this mission. Whether you are interested in sharing your knowledge of excavation, interpretation, or reconstruction there is a place for you at the San Bernardino County Museum’s Archaeology Day 2018.
Event Date: October 20th
Event Time: 1:00-4:00 pm
