Family-friendly STEAM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts\, and Mathematics) activities will highlight archaeological work and artifacts\, and share the legacy of Greek culture to raise awareness of the ancient world. Museum visitors at this archaeology fair event will view The Antikythera Mechanism exhibition\, explore the replica interior of the ancient Parthenon\, participate in activity stations\, and earn an “Official Archaeologist of the Nashville Parthenon” sticker! Tabletop activity stations\, each equipped with 6ft social distance spacing\, hand sanitizer\, and sanitizing wipes\, include: \nOlive Oil Painting with Kidsville\n–Join Kidsville to learn about mythology stories as seen in Parthenon sculptures\, and use disposable materials to create your own take-home olive oil painting. \nAll About Antikythera\n–Gear up for some fun and find out how scholars have studied the world’s oldest computer\, the Antikythera mechanism\, since its discovery in the early 1900s. \nAsk an Expert\n–AIA Nashville Society officers will answer questions about all things archaeology and the ancient world! \nResearch Station\n–Designated the Quiet Area\, this inclusive space offers books and resources on archaeology\, ancient Greece\, and mythology. \nExperimental Archaeology\n–Visitors build miniature ancient structures with blocks and assorted materials just as archaeologists learn about the past by testing out ideas through experimentation of architectural steps and processes. \nPlease note: all visitors are required to wear face coverings inside the Nashville Parthenon. We recommend arriving early to ensure enough time to explore and visit each activity station.\nCost: \n● AIA Nashville Society members receive free museum admission.\n● Discounted admission for mentioning visiting for International Archaeology Day. \nSponsored by the Archaeological Institute of America\, Nashville Society\, Centennial Park Conservancy\, and Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation. \nAbout International Archaeology Day \nHeld on the third Saturday\, but fêted throughout the month of October\, International Archaeology Day is a celebration of archaeology and the thrill of discovery. The Archaeological Institute of America and collaborating archaeological organizations across the United States\, Canada\, and abroad present archaeological programs and activities for people of all ages and interests. DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY | 16 th OCTOBER 2021 | 9.00 – 16.00 \nAfter one-year break\, Archeopark Pavlov will once again take part in the International Archaeology Day. As in previous years\, they have prepared for their visitors the opening of the exhibition WOLF FROM PAVLOV and another event programme. This exhibiton can be visited from 24 th July. The central exhibit of the wolf skull from Pavlov is and will be presented only by a 3D model until the IDA. This exhibition opens the topic of the realationship between human and wolf in the period 30 000 years ago. These relationships will be presented not only through the finding from Pavlov\, but also through other examples and findings from other local archaeological sites of mammoth hunters. The author of the exhibition is doc. Mgr. Sandra Sázelová\, Ph.D. The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Centre for Paleolithic and Paleoanthropology of the Archaeological Institute of the Academic Sciences of the Czech Republic in Brno. The partners of this exhibition are the Zoological Garden of the capital city of Prague and ZOO Olomouc. These institutions provided photographs of their wolves. Some photographs from their ethnographic collections were also provided for the exhibition by the American Museum of Natural History in New York. SUMMARY:Digging the Past Archaeology Day
DESCRIPTION:October is Archaeology Month in Ohio and we plan to celebrate! Not only will we be exploring archaeology\, but we will also be looking at different aspects of geology and changes to the earth due to erosion\, sedimentation\, and deposition. This program is great for any student or adult interested in Archaeology! \nCampus Martius will fill its halls with original artifacts from the pre-historic to the historic period displayed by local collectors and others from elsewhere throughout the state. Visitors will be given the rare opportunity to view these items and discuss their significance with their owners and see what might be found in their own backyard. Visitors are also encouraged to bring their local finds for identification. Younger students might enjoy the Young Archaeologist area that will have a discovery table and display of artifacts featuring dinosaur bones\, fossils\, and other rarities. \nJoin us for an exciting day of Digging the Past at Campus Martius Museum. Inquiries? Contact Bill Reynolds at 740-373-3750.

SUMMARY:Lamb Spring Tours & Atlatl Toss
DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with the Archaeology Expo being held nearby\, (historycolorado.org)\, the Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve (LSAP) will host talks and tours with atlatl tossing starting at 10:00 and 11:00am. \nLSAP is an internationally significant archaeological site containing bone beds of extinct Ice Age animals and artifacts from later human occupation. Extinct Ice Age animals found at the site include over 30 Columbian Mammoths\, the largest number known from any site in Colorado. It also contains the remains of Ice Age camels\, horses\, sloths\, llamas\, and wolves. The site contains what may be some of the best-preserved evidence of the earliest humans to live in the North American Continent. The artifacts left by humans indicate people hunted and camped around the spring for the past 9\,000 years and possibly much longer. \nSign up for the 10:00 or 11:00 tour on eventbrite.com. You will be contacted with the location of the preserve which is on private property\,
