Archaeological excavation campaign of Ancient Salona is adapted for students, adventurists, archaeology amateurs, volunteers and others willing to learn more about archaeology of this region and who wish to experience the thrill of discovery. Research and restoration program shall be performed by an expert team of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb – Department of Archaeology and the Archaeological Museum of Split, while the itinerary program elements of transfers, excursions, guides and accommodation is organized by Ventula Travel – Destination Management Company. This program offers a variety of benefits for all it’s participants. The intention of this project is sustainable development of local community, primarily in form of education of students through archaeological fieldwork practice, but in other forms as well.
Activities include archaeological excavations, restoration, documentation, professional lectures, organized tours, meeting local people, exploration of the well-known sites, but also hidden, off-the-beaten path curiosities.
*In a case of rain, the project envisions indoors activities such as finds processing, documentation, restoration and workshops.

Minimum Length of Stay for Volunteers: 15 days / 14 nights (can be customized in exclusive program)
Minimum Age: 16
Experience Required: Experience is not necessary, but very good physical shape and willingness for hard manual labor is. By application, every participant will receive a manual that will explain all details in regarding archaeological practice and field work.
Room and Board Arrangements:
Situated just by the sea next to Salona site, the old seaside villages of Kaštela are very picturesque, quiet location, very convenient to spend your nights in and explore. Accommodation facilities are categorized with 3 stars. Excavation site is situated 15 mins drive away. Accommodation is in studio apartments with AC for max. 2 persons on ALL INCLUSIVE basis. ALL INCLUSIVE FEATURES: Rich buffet breakfast, lunch (on site during excavation days) and dinner, 1 drink included with meals.
