Assistant Professor/Lecturer or Teaching Specialist of Art History
POSITION: Assistant Professor/Lecturer or Teaching Specialist of Art History; full-time one-year temporary position (sabbatical replacement).
APPOINTMENT DATE: August 13, 2012 – May 12, 2013
QUALIFICATIONS: We seek a specialist in Ancient or Medieval art history with an enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates in a residential, liberal arts setting. Teaching experience as well as familiarity with a liberal arts college environment preferred. Ph.D. in Art History by date of appointment preferred; ABD will be considered. Candidates holding the degree of Ph.D. will be appointed as assistant professor; ABDs will be appointed as teaching specialist.
OUR CAMPUS: The University of Minnesota, Morris is a residential public liberal arts college serving over 1900 students. One of five campuses of the University of Minnesota, UMM is located 160 miles west of Minneapolis in the rural community of Morris, MN. The student body is talented, diverse, and engaged. The Morris student body is one of the most ethnically diverse in the University of Minnesota system with 20% students of color (12% are American Indian students) and a growing international student population.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Six courses per academic year: a first-year seminar on a topic of the candidate’s choice; three sections of our “Ancient to Medieval” survey course; and two upper-level seminars in any ancient, medieval or non-western field (other than Chinese).
SALARY: Commensurate with experience, expected range $38,000-$40,000
