AIA Lecturer: Alexander Jones

Alexander Jones is Professor of the History of Exact Sciences in Antiquity at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, New York University; he is Professor of Mathematics with the Courant Institute, NYU. He holds his degrees from the University of British Columbia and Brown University (Ph.D.), and his research interests are the mathematical and physical sciences and psuedosciences in antiquity, Middle Ages, and early modern Europe. His current work concerns astronomy and astrology in the ancient Near East and Greek World, the scientific work of Ptolemy, and Greek mathematical sciences in general.
