Professor Hartswick is author of the forthcoming The Gardens of Sallust: A Changing Landscape, and is co-editor of STEPHANOS: Studies in Honor of Brunilde Sismondo Ridgway (University of Pennsylvania Press: Philadelphia, 1998). He has published essays and reviews in American Journal of Archaeology, Classical Bulletin, Revue archeologique, and Jahrbuch des deutschen archeologischen Instituts. He serves as the University representative to the Managing Committee of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens and was President of the Classical Society of the American Academy in Rome.
