Roger Bland is Head of the Department of Portable Antiquities and Treasures of the U.K. (based at the British Museum), and holds his degrees from the Institute of Archaeology of University College London (Ph.D.) and King’s College London (B.A.). His areas of expertise are numismatics, the archaeology of Roman Britain, and cultural policy issues. He has published extensively, and was made an Officer of the British Empire in 2008 for his work. Dr. Bland is the AIA’s Metcalf Lecturer for 2011/2012.
