The tradition of dervishes is not just a very famous dance but it is also a very important element of Turkish culture. Since 13th century mystic, poet and philisopher Mevlana C. Rumi established a new way of art and thought, Dervishes of Turkey have enriched the music, literature, dance and belief of Ottoman geography without the discrimination of race, religion or nation.

The Archaeological Institute of America  will hold its Annual spring fundraising Gala at Capitale in New York City on April 25, 2012. The Gala will celebrate all things Turkish, drawing inspiration from Turkey's rich archaeological and cultural past. The event will honor Crawford H. Greenewalt, Jr., longtime excavator at Sardis, with the Bandelier Award for Public Service to Archaeology.
