University of Georgia Holds Seminar at Samshvilde Archaeological Complex

On October 25th-27th, 2017, the International Archaeological Center of the University of Georgia, with the Quality Schools International Tbilisi, organized a special seminar and hiking tour to Samshvilde complex in central Transcaucasia for International Archaeology Day.

 

The seminar was held by Professor David Berikashvili of the International Archaeological Center of the University of Georgia and archaeology students Levan Kvakhadze and Nicholas Gazdeliani, both of the University of Georgia. Sir Michael Evan and the students of QSI-Tbilisi hosted the event. After the seminar, the participants visited the main sights and excavated sections of Samshvilde archaeological complex.Students also attended a workshop on obsidian knapping and Neolithic stone tool making.
