Open Position at AIA: Grant Writer


Title: Grant Writer

Location: Hybrid or Remote

The Archaeological Institute of America seeks a well-organized, self-motivated, and professional grant writer. This individual will report directly to the Executive Director. The Grant Writer will be responsible for creating, overseeing, and implementing all grant opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify new grant opportunities and foundations
  • Write and develop longstanding grant applications
  • Write reports for all grants received
  • Work with Executive Director and Director of Development to establish relationships with funders
  • Maintain grant tracker and calendar deadlines for upcoming grants and reports due
  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Director of Development to create and maintain up-to-date budgets used in applications and reporting

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years grant writing experience
  • Must have proven track record of securing federal grants, private foundation grants, as well as business grants
  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission, fundraising processes
  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet upcoming deadlines and events
