39 large fragments, found between 1913 and 1997, define the monumental dedication text from Octavian’s Victory Monument for the Actian War. Working with the aid of 3D laser scans and computer modeling techniques we can finally appreciate the original text and its placement on the monument it once consecrated.

Michal Artzy of the University of Haifa, Israel, will describe recent discoveries in the harbor area of Akko (Medieval Acre) and her search for remains dating to the time of the Phoenicians. Prof. Artzy, who is known for her work in coastal and underwater archaeology, is co-director of the Tel Akko excavations. Lecture is free and open to the public (light refreshments at 5:30pm).
