Dr. Hilary Becker has been named the University of Mississippi's "Mississippi Humanities Council Teacher of the Year" for 2015. Join us for a public lecture celebrating Dr. Becker's well-deserved honor on October 28 at 7:00 in Bryant 209.
Dr. Becker will talk about one aspect of her wide-ranging research in Etruscan and Roman archaeology and economic history in this “case study” focused on the trade in pigments in ancient Roman.
A reception will follow in the Farrington Gallery on the first floor of Bryant Hall.

We are hosting Latin students from the Oxford Middle School in Oxford, MS. We shall serve lunch, have Classics Jeopardy, a treasure hunt for sherds that will be mended into whole pots, a tour of the David M. Robinson Collection at the University of Mississippi. Then Dr. Jay Johnston, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Mississippi, will present a public lecture on his excavation at Carson Mounds near Clarksdale, MS (4:00 PM, Bryant Hall 209).
