AIA Lecturer/Host: William A. Parkinson

Dr. William A. Parkinson is an expert in European and eastern Mediterranean prehistory. His research concerns the social dynamics of early village societies and the emergence of early states, such as the Mycenaean civilization, which is the focus of several of our trip’s excursions. Bill is the Co-Director of The Diros Project, a multi-disciplinary regional research project that we also plan to visit (pending permission), located in the remote Mani Peninsula of the Peloponnese. This project recently was awarded the AIA’s Cotsen Grant. He has authored numerous papers and lectured extensively, and is curator of the special Field Museum exhibition “The Greeks – Agamemnon to Alexander the Great” (November 25, 2015 to April 10, 2016).
