AIA Lecturer/Host: Elizabeth Pierce
Elizabeth Pierce was a journalist before pursuing her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Archaeology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. The main focus of her doctoral research was on the Vikings and Norse in the North Atlantic region, including Shetland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, and Greenland. Since then, Elizabeth has taught undergraduate, postgraduate, and adult-education courses at the University of Glasgow on the Vikings and on early medieval Scotland. She has worked on archaeological excavations around Scotland, as well as in Shetland and Iceland. Additionally, Elizabeth has authored several academic journal articles and is the archaeology editor for the journal Northern Studies. Currently, she is co-authoring a book on the Vikings in the North Atlantic for The History Press. Elizabeth lectured to excellent reviews on the AIA-sponsored In the Wake of the Vikings cruises in 2014 and 2015.
